Sometimes the little accidents can leave your computer without sound. Maybe you were tinkering with some settings and lost the sound or maybe you never had sound to begin with but fret not because I am going to walk you through the process of restoring your sound.

First thing is to check the easy settings to see if you may have just muted your speakers by accident. If you’re looking at your computer screen then look to the clock at the bottom left hand side of your computer and look for a little black speaker. If the little black speaker has a red circle with a line through the sound then you simply muted the speakers and the fix is a bit easier.

Double click the little speaker and your computer should bring up the audio properties. To the far left of that box you will see some options to mute any one of those bars. Click the must button to un mute the speakers and your finished. You can close out the box and proceed as normal.

If you have checked that option and you don’t have the little black speaker at the bottom right hand side of the computer then chances are that you need to install or re-install your sound drivers.

Your audio driver is the computer code needed for your computer to work with your sound. Normally your computer will come stock with the audio drivers already installed and sometimes they offer the device disk to go along with the computer. If you have ever formatted your hard drive then you will need to reinstall your computer drivers which would include your audio drivers. If don’t have your disk then you can Google your compute make and model and audio driver and you should be able to download a generic version of your audio drivers. Once those are installed then you will be prompted to restart your computer and you should be back in business.
